Ms. Horne, our counselor, challenged our Kinder through 5th graders to start a GES chain reaction of kindness. It was so powerful to have ALL our students together in one room taking a stand against bullying.
Once a month we like to get together with our buddies in Ms. Finch's 2nd grade class. Over the course of the year we will build relationships, share work, teach each other skills we have learned, and create holiday ornaments. We use technology, we work out in the garden and sometimes we read and write stories together. Our buddies even send us special words of encouragement around STAAR time :) For our first meeting, students had to find the buddy with a sticker that matched theirs. Then they used Popplet on their Ipads to create a double bubble chart showing how they and their buddy are alike and different.
4th Graders learn place value to the BILLIONS! Using our bodies to build numbers is a great way to help our learning stick. It is a lot of fun too!
Students took turns interviewing each other to uncover the characteristics of a Good Scientist. We discovered that good scientists are safe, patient, carefully follow directions, work well with others and never give up!
The first day of school is an exciting one. Our classroom theme this year is Picnic and I found out quickly that this year's class is ready to spread out the blanket and get started in 4th grade!
