Today students realized that if we can read a 3 digit number, we can build and read ANY number! Even the ones our friend create:)
Today we had a surprise guest. The renowned scientist, Dr. Eva Genius performed an audit of Mrs. Curnow's instructional methods concerning Lab Safety. The Good News is that students rose to the challenge and were able to answer all Dr. Genius's questions on the behaviors and tools we use in the lab to stay safe. Need-less-to-say we all had a great time reviewing for our quiz.
Students warmed up their brains using the mental math game called Poison. Then they brainstormed the attributes of a good mathematician.
Our first day of school was spent learning about classmates and building our team. First we learned how talented, interesting and funny our class is. At the end of the day, we saw how our path to success intersects with our classmate's paths and together we can learn so much more than we could learn alone. I spent my summer vacation exploring MinecraftEdu. I created some great learning environments that will help my students learn the place value of whole numbers and decimals, a farm where they will apply their knowledge of area, perimeter, and volume, and a world where they can construct 2D and 3D geometric figures. I am so excited for this year to begin!
