Last week students created life size illustrations of the characters in their book clubs. Illustrations included artistic renderings of what the characters looked like as well as descriptions of traits they exhibited in the book. Students had a great time creating these "friends" and made some great connections with their books.
In partners, students continued to explore the similarities and differences between the processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition. They read scenarios and decided what was happening - was rock being broken down, moved along, or dropped off? We even have a fun little song we sing to help us remember each. Ask your child to sing it for you. I promise it will get stuck in your head! I bet even older siblings still remember it.
Yep, Friday was a busy one. We did some graphing of our own using Candy Corn. Students estimated, measured and graphed bags of candy corn. They compared their data with the data of others and created a group comparison graph. I'm still finding candy corn around the room, haha!
Students met with their second grade buddies to help them sort and graph the treasure that they found on Pirate Day. They also gave them glow bracelets to help them have a safe Halloween.
Students were invited to participate in the GES Book Parade. Dressed as characters in their favorite books, students paraded down the halls of the school to share with all the grade levels. It was an exciting time, and once again I am astounded by the creativity of our class!!! |
